Jian Gang has already invested in the establishment of a GACP planting base in Canada, taking the first step towards standardized planting medicines. Dr. Smith will be responsible for introducing them to China in the future.
Dr. Wang Yun is an expert in plants and fungi. Received a PhD degree from the Department of Botany, University of Otago, New Zealand. Worked as a senior researcher at the Royal New Zealand Institute of Plant and Food Research for 22 years. He is an important member of the scientific research field of fungi and botany in New Zealand and internationally. He is active in a number of professional academic institutions. He was a member of the Royal New Zealand Society of Scientists and the American Mycological Society, a lifetime honorary member of the North American Truffle Society, a member of the Chinese Botanical Society, a member of the Board of Directors of the Chinese Mycological Society and an honorary professor of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has won the 1993 New Zealand Professional Chinese Outstanding Achievement Award, the 1999/2000 New Zealand Crop and Food Research Institute Outstanding Achievement Award, the 1993 China Science and Technology Progress Second Prize, and the 2007 Foreign Expert Caiyun Award from the People's Government of Yunnan Province, China. He was the vice chairman and chairman of the 4th and 5th International Symposium on World Mycorrhizal Edible Fungi. He has published more than 100 articles and books, and holds 29 patents.
Dr. Ronald Smith was born in Montreal, Quebec, in 1978, a Bachelor of Forestry Science in University of New Brunswick, in 1981, a master's degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1995, received his PhD in the University of Maine Orono. In 1978, he began to cooperate with the Canadian Forestry Service (CFS), focusing on applied research in forest genetics/tree improvement. He started in 2005 to develop applicable crops including promoting the sustainable use of NTFPs, agriculture and forestry, permanent cultivation and medicinal plants. In addition to an active research career, Dr. Smith has also served in professional organizations, including the chairman of the New Brunswick Registered Professional Forest Workers Association, and the Commissioner and Chief of Finance of the Canadian Forestry Research Institute. He has served as the editor of the "PGRSA" quarterly magazine, the "Plant Growth Regulation Society of America" magazine, and various national and international committees, and has been trained as an organic farm certification inspector. He is an adjunct professor at the University of New Brunswick, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, and supervising and co-supervising undergraduate, master and doctoral students for more than 20 years. He is a certified lecturer in the Canadian Consortium of Herbs, Spices and Natural Health Products (CHSNC) Good Agriculture and Collection Practices (GACP) program.
